NOTHING IS MORE DURABLE AND MAINTENANCE FRIENDLY than real leather!
JORI uses COMFORT LEATHER !
Leather upholstery is of the highest importance, as a good piece of seating is used intensively by people and for many years. The choice to use leather represents an essential part of the price. It is very difficult when making a purchase to distinguish between good quality and poor quality leather and that is why buying good quality leather furniture is always a question of trust.
Tanning process (see detail in annex 1)
What is important in choosing good leather for a durable investment?
Origin
Leather comes from animals and in the seating industry people work with cattle due to the size of the hides. Turning an animal skin into durable leather starts with the tanning process.
The best cattle come from Southern Europe because:
- Ideal food base.
- Little damage (no barbed wire).
Why does JORI only work with young bull hides ?
Young bull hides guarantee the very best furniture leather. In comparison with cow hides, they are stronger, retain shape better and guarantee against pleat formation. Calving makes cow hides more elastic and they offer less robustness. That is why JORI only works with robust hides from young bulls. COMFORT HIDES !
Thickness
The thicker the leather the stronger it is!
JORI is the only one to guarantee a minimum thickness of 1.4 mm which is definitely a must in the furniture industry. There are many leathers on the market that are thinner and therefore less robust and durable.
An additional advantage of thicker leather is that it feels richer and fuller and retains its shape, making small bumps less visible.
Look
Look : rougher or smoother grain depending on choice
JORI offers leather with a rougher grain, with a fine grain or even completely smooth. It’s up to you!
The thicker the leather, the rougher the grain can be !

- Finish
Each kind of leather can be finished in a variety of ways.
- pure aniline leathers are completely natural.
For JORI = XIENDA – LOTILA – NODINA
The grain side (top) is not covered and the pores are fully open.
The wonderful softness and natural feel makes this the best kind of finish and ensures optimal seating pleasures. Completely natural leather requires some care when used. Only the best hides can be used for this.
- semi-aniline leathers
For JORI = LIPANO
On the grain side (top) very few pigment colours are used, the pores remain open, making it suitable for the leather fan wishing to combine comfort and ease of use. This leather is user friendly and uniform in appearance.
- pigmented leathers
For JORI = KONIA – CELIA – FUERTE - LARIDO
On the grain side (top) more pigment colours are used, making the leather perfectly suited for intensive use. Pigmented leather is budget and maintenance friendly.
JORI can supply all possible colours, from the warmest classics to the most outlandish and trendy leather colours.
Lab tests :
All JORI leather types are subject to strict international lab tests. Each hide is unique and is given a digital passport when it arrives at JORI that records its journey like that of a person. In the event of any problems, JORI knows everything about the hide, from origin, features, health tests and the like !

Fabric furnishing collection at JORI since 2011
In 2011, JORI began to expand an exclusive, quality fabric collection.
What is quality fabric material ? For the user, it means a fabric that is durable over time, one that does not pile and retains its colour.

JORI has taken all of these factors into account when designing its range. That’s why all JORI fabrics are made from pure wool, to which in certain qualities a small amount of viscose is added for ease of use. Moreover, all fabrics meet the high criteria or ISO standard. For the range of qualities and colours, see www.jori.com.
