With Celesta, JORI introduces a chair that structurally redraws the boundaries of the dining category. Designed by the Dutch design duo Tom Dissel and Timon Scholten — known as Designmeesters — Celesta is an object that functions with equal conviction at the dining table, in the lounge of a five-star hotel, and in the contemporary boardroom. Its formal coherence and exceptional comfort make it specifiable across the most diverse contexts of the high-end interior.

Tom Dissel and Timon Scholten are one of the most distinguished young design duos in the Netherlands. Their work is characterised by a clear formal language, a deep respect for proportion, and an ability to balance comfort and refinement without compromising either. With Celesta, they demonstrate that the dining chair — for too long an undervalued category in the premium interior — deserves to be regarded as a design object of the first order.
COMFORT FOR THE LONG TABLE
Celesta is designed for people who stay at the table. The enveloping bucket form provides lateral support that maintains correct posture even after extended use. The seating geometry is calibrated for both the active dining position and the relaxed post-dinner posture — a distinction ignored by most dining chairs, and one that functions as a central design parameter in Celesta.
The result is a chair that extends the meal, deepens the conversation, and transforms the table from a functional object into a place where one wants to be.
DOUBLE UPHOLSTERY AS DESIGN STATEMENT
The most distinctive feature of Celesta is its double upholstery: the inner and outer surfaces of the shell are specified independently of one another. Fabric outside, leather inside. Leather outside, fabric inside. Or a unity of fabric/fabric or leather/leather. Each combination delivers a visually distinctive result that gives Celesta its unmistakably rich character — visible from the front, from the back, and from every other angle.
The upholstery range encompasses premium leathers and fabrics, including an exclusive selection of recyclable and recycled textiles of the highest quality tier. At Celesta, sustainability and exclusivity are not a contradiction.
BASE CONFIGURATION
Celesta is available with multiple base configurations: a swivel star-shaped metal pedestal — available with or without castors for optimal mobility in meeting room contexts — or elegant tube legs for a warmer, more residential presence. Every configuration preserves the visual lightness that gives the design its distinctive character.
