Care and maintenance

Intensive treatment

Intensive treatment

Intensive treatment only imposes itself when regular maintenance of your leather furniture proves insufficient. Do not resort to giving your leather furniture intensive treatment on more than one occasion a year at most.

Observe our instructions

  • Be judicious in choosing the right maintenance product and read the instructions carefully before applying.
  • Be sure to try out the product first on a less visible part of the furniture.
  • Use a moist, cotton cloth to apply the care product and rub it out gently across the leather in smooth circular movements.
  • Make sure you always clean your furniture first before applying the feeding or protective treatment.
  • Allow the product sufficient time to do its work and be sure to allow your suite to dry for at least 6 hours.

Nappa or velours?
Nappa Collective term for all types of full-grained leather. and velours leathers Collective term for all types of buffed leather. require a different approach. For each, intensive treatment consists of two steps: cleaning and feeding/protecting.

  • Cleaning nappa leather
Use 1 teaspoonful of Leather Care Keller's Soft Cleaner JORI-selected leather care products. for every m² or a sud of 20 gr alkali-free soap (e.g. Marseille soap) into 1 litre of distilled water.
  • Feeding nappa leather
This step is only required for pigmented and semi-aniline nappa leathers (not for pure natural nappa leather). Use 1 teaspoonful of Leather Care Keller's Leather Protection Cream per m² or a maximum of 1 teaspoonful of castor oil per litre of distilled water.
  • Cleaning velours leather
Use Leather Care Keller's Foam Cleaner. After cleaning, the velours leather must be left to dry for at least 6 hours before moving on to the next step.
  • Protecting velours leather
Use Leather Care Keller's Protection Spray. If the leather should display a sheen locally, gently rub it down using either (LCK) nubuck tissues, a nubuck rubber or using regular very fine sandpaper (using a minimum n° 1200 grain).
