Natural characteristics of leather
Each bull skin comes with its own glorious past.
Your lounge suite or piece of seating furniture tells the tale by way of a series of minuscule typical traces.
Insect stings
are tiny, fine markings on the surface which are usually grouped tightly together. They are always incorporated.
Thorn scratches
are superficial; as they do not weaken the skin in any way, they are simply incorporated.
Dung stains
are caused by dung traces rooted into the skin. As pores are wider in these areas, they slightly roughen and darken the leather locally. These parts of the skin are never used.
Closed scars
are the result of minor cuts and scrapes which have nicely healed. They are incorporated as they do not weaken the skin in any way. Open scars on the other hand affect the firmness of the skin as a whole which is why they are not used.
Differences in structure
Grain texture variations are inherent to natural unprinted leathers. Marked variations are used in less visible places.
Colour shading
occurs when different sections of the skin absorb unequal amounts of aniline colourants. Inherent to natural leather and particular to the type and specific properties of each skin. These subtle tone variations appear most distinctly in pure natural nappa leather.
Leather folds
it is perfectly normal and typical of leather for folds and undulations to emerge after a few months. This phenomenon is quite customary as leather will invariably continue to stretch out to a certain extent with time. Beyond this, the formation of gentle folds serves to emphasise the rich and sumptuously warm character of your lounge suite.
