JORI season's harvest: a new spring, no less than nine new designs
Year after year, and today more than ever, JORI focuses on revival and creativity. The JORI designer team have been extremely active lately.
For the 2008 edition of the IMM Cologne, JORI will present its new prototypes and new models, which will be put into production over the next few months to again enchant amateurs of fine living with their bold design, timeless contemporary character and unmatched seating comfort.
Time for an interior makeover? The JORI season’s harvest has something in store for any connoisseur of fine seating furniture, for a soothing and comfortable new year.
I. New designs Kamasitra Collection
Kamasitra no longer needs to be introduced. Several years ago, JORI launched the Kamasitra, a new living concept through which the Belgian manufacturer of contemporary seating furniture in finest leather has jumped into the third millennium. Kamasitra is a contemporary and trendy furniture collection, tailor-made for the volatile and style-conscious urban adventurer.
The Kamasitra collection results from reflection on how the residential and living environment should evolve over the next years as a function of the needs and aspirations of demanding today’s urban consumer. A consumer who’s looking for excitement and change, eager to live each moment at the fullest, always ready for new sensations. A modern explorer, with no fear of embracing completely new concepts, in search of the impossible, setting the highest standards for his environment in terms of comfort, luxury and refinement, but who doesn’t want to be tied to one single style or just one trend.
The focus is set on flexibility, modularity and multi-functionality. Each creation is at the service of seating comfort, flexibility and wide applicability; features top-notch finishings and luxurious materials, in combination with sharp lines and timeless contemporary design.
For this consumer JORI created Kamasitra, a creative think tank in which the top Belgian talents in the field of furniture design can render a personal interpretation of the living concepts for the 21st century. The last steps in this creative reflection process will be presented to the international press as a world premiere during the IMM Cologne 2008.
A. Musa JR-2500/2530 (design: J.P. Audebert)
Musa is the inclusive solution for the modern consumers who want to take their (living) space in their own hands, and shape it according to their personal tastes and desires. In short, today’s consumer does not consider a piece of furniture as an immutable object; he wants to be able to shape, change and transform it as a function of his wishes and needs. ‘Customising’ is the underlying concept.
The Musa model offers a modular design to the consumer instead of ready-made seating furniture. The Musa model features a complete range of different types of sofas in various widths. In addition to the regular sofa models, JORI has developed different types of extension sofas that can be connected via a corner element to form corner combinations.
Extension sofas are available either with the armrest either on the left, or on the right, so they can easily be integrated to any interior.
In addition to sofas and extension sofas, the Musa collection features various footstools in different sizes, freestanding or connected to the corner element. These seating elements can be easily combined with the tables in various sizes, with a white or black glass finish.
Furthermore, the JORI design team has also developed 3 connecting elements (without armrests or with one armrest to the left or right) that can be added to the combination.
Like always JORI offers a wide choice in terms of frame. Musa is available with wooden (wengé) bridge foot, elliptical aluminium feet or with armrests upholstered in leather (this last version is called Musa JR-2530). The leather-upholstered armrests give a somewhat more classical look.
In short: Musa is definitely a brilliant program model that perfectly fits Kamasitra’s basic philosophy: to offer the consumer a concept enabling him to reach his uttermost expectations.
B. Chillap JR-9080 (design: Verhaert New Products and Services)
As 2d novelty in the Kamasitra family, JORI presents the freestanding Chillap JR-9080 armchair, one of the trendsetters in the new JORI assortment.
Chillap offers an answer to the demanding customer in search of a multifunctional armchair. The Chillap model rotates 360° and is available in no less than 4 different versions (4 different frames): a square foot in stainless steel (in both matte and polished version) and a four-toe foot, also in matte or polished stainless steel.
The armrest is a special element in the Chillap model. In no time, it can be switched from its regular position to a horizontal position, so it can be easily be used as laptop support or as armrest on which a book or a magazine can be laid and read.
It swivels, for a global view on the surrounding environment, ideal to be able to keep in visual contact with the garden, the members of the family, the television or open hearth, etc...
Actually, the hit scouts of the IMM Cologne (a team detecting and judging new trends and upgrades) have already shown great enthusiasm for this upgraded design:
“Chillap JR-9080 has been selected by the ‘hit scouts’ for publishing in the hit guide IMM Cologne 2008. This means that it is now one of the exciting innovations, which the hit guide presents to journalists in an exclusive design and format. The selection of the hit guide products from hundred of entries has not been easy for the ‘hit scouts’. But there is no doubt: IMM Cologne will again spotlight lots of exciting products!”
II. New designs Originals Collection
Originals is the JORI classics collection. Originals is synonymous with classic contemporary armchairs and sofas, created by top designers, with timeless design meeting the highest requirements in terms of luxury materials, detailed finishings, and ultimate seating comfort.
Originals concentrates JORI’s lines of force, and groups all JORI classics, including the relax chairs, under one denomination. Originals is not only about taking a stroll along the celebrated, timeless JORI, it’s also synonym of revival. During the IMM Cologne 2008, JORI will present no less than 6 new designs for the Originals range. In a few words: revived tradition, originality with classics, Originals by JORI.
A. Trigo JR-4900/4930 (design: Verhaert New Products and Services)
The Originals Collection also features a total program, it’s called Trigo or JR-4900./JR-4930. Trigo is a series of sofas, extension sofas, corner elements, connecting elements, footstools and tables, in other words, all the consumer needs to build and shape his own interior. The ‘building blocks’ featured in the Trigo range are easy to combine, both to the left and to the right (using left or right extension sofas or additional elements).
Trigo is available in open version (in which there’s an open space between the base and the ground) and a closed version (in which there’s only one small space between the base and the ground). The closed version has a more classic look and was designed for those who prefer a full sofa.
Both open and closed versions are available with two different types of feet. The open version is available with aluminium cylinder-shaped or single-angle feet. The closed version is available with wengé wood feet or with chromed cylinder-shaped feet, both matte and polished.
The multiplicity of functions and applications are also essential with Trigo. For instance, the armrest can be adjusted steplessly from a vertical position (through a small aluminium button placed on the side) to any other position up to completely horizontal position. This way, the armrest can be used as head support when lying on the sofa or even as extra seating place in horizontal position (when friends come around or during parties…).
Trigo gets an extra dimension through the use of head supports, available almost everywhere in the back. Through an ingenious frame system between the back and the back cushions on the Trigo model, one or more loose cushion can slide over the frame, to provide comfortable head support.
B. Cargo JR-6080 (design: J.P. Audebert)
After the successful introduction of Metropole, JORI now presents a smaller version of that model, but this time without the same functionalities featured by Metropole. Cargo has the same characteristics as Metropole, notably a beautiful aluminium frame that truly embraces the model, available in matt or polished version.
With its smaller size and the somewhat firmer seating cushions, it is particularly well adapted for places like hotel lobbies or waiting rooms….
C. Metropole JR-6030 (design: J.P. Audebert)
The Metropole program has been enriched with a more classical version. The aluminium frame, the trademark of the JR-6000, has been left behind and replaced by a model that’s fully upholstered in leather. The basic functionalities have been maintained (like the lumbar cushions adjustable in height, the stepless extending seating cushions that can be blocked at any time and the armrest that can be used both in horizontal and in vertical position).
The new version of the Metropole JR-6030 will certainly appeal to consumers who prefer more classical lines. Both versions mix and match without any problem and would please any bon viveur.
D. Cammeo JR-3170 (design: C. Giraud)
The TV chair Cammeo JR-3170 combines a fresh classic design with a few existing assets from the famous TV chair collection. The model features an asynchronous mechanism (back and footrest are independently adjustable), ensuring a particularly versatile use. For example with the JR-3170, one can sit upright with an extended footrest, or exactly the contrary. It is thus possible for instance to extend the legs and watch TV at the same time, or lay back quietly daydreaming and (literally) keep both feet on the ground.
As a premiere for the IMM Cologne, the TV chair will be presented in 2 versions: the manually and the electronically adjustable editions. With the manually adjustable edition, it is possible to stretch out the footrest by lifting the arms off the armrest. Thanks to a handy leather strap on the inside of the seat the back can be set steplessly to any desired relax position.
An electronically-adjustable version is now also available. Thanks to 2 aluminium buttons on the exterior side of the armrest, it is possible to effortlessly reconfigure the armchair asynchronously, adjusting the footrest and the back section separately. An optional version is available with a built-in battery, to avoid the need for a cable in the living space.
JR-3170 rests on a handy swivelling foot (rotating 360°) and is available in 5 different versions: a 5-toe foot in aluminium, an round aluminium base in black acryl, one with a round beech base and one leather-covered round base.
JR-3170 is equipped with a fixed lumbar cushion with an ingenious pneumatic pump system: lumbar support can thus be adjusted individually.
E. Aqua JR-2758 (design: C. Giraud)
F. Navy JR-4080 (design: C. Giraud)
The JORI designers are well aware of the fact that today’s consumer loves to combine various types of furniture. Next to a sofa, a smaller individual armchair is easy to move around, takes less space and is multi-functional.
At the occasion of the IMM Cologne 2008 JORI presents no less than 2 new complementary armchair models: the Aqua JR-2758 and the Navy JR-4080.
Aqua is proposed in two versions: one fixed-back version and one version with adjustable height. Support feet are available in standard aluminium or black lacquered.
Navy has a built-in gas spring mechanism to extend back height automatically by simple hand or arm pressure.
The feet of the Navy model are available in 2 different versions: sledge aluminium feet or bridge feet in wengé wood.
III New design Diners Collection
Flava JR-5905 (design: C. Giraud)
When JORI launched the Diners collection, it was clear from the beginning that the collection would grow to become one of the pillars of the JORI assortment. Diners now features five basic models with multiple possibilities. For the IMM Cologne 2008 a new chair will be presented, the first element of a total program featuring eating benches, bar stools, wider and lower stools, in other words, a program that will constitute a significant asset in both the residential and the professional sector.
Flava JR-5905 will be launched with wooden feet in different finishings. The seat will be available in two different versions, with or without armrest. During the furniture fair, you’ll be able to discover the basic model.
